Statement Most of my work is an investigation of applied ornament. As such, it is connected to the long tradition in design history of synthetic ornamental form. That is, form that has been synthesized from natural events or conditions. The most recent pieces
were designed on the computer with 3D modeling software. In
this work, computer modeling and design methods have been explored.
The characteristic forms that are typical of modeling software
serve as testament to the evolving influence of modernist vision
in design process. It remains a question as to whether the ideas
are controlling the software or the software is driving ideation.
I rather enjoy this ambivalence as a natural product of our
time. |
